Have you Created a Basic Care Plan for your Pet?

Read these Basic Planning Steps below to start creating a plan to ensure that your pets are always cared for even if you face disabilities or pass away. One of the key parts of estate planning is taking care of your four-legged family members.

  • Create a fact sheet on your pet and include:
  1. Age and Breed
  2. Allergies
  3. Medical Conditions
  4. Medications
  5. Veterinary contact information
  6. What kind of food they eat
  7. Specific pet characterization
  • Carry a Pet Alert Card in your wallet. If you look on amazon they also come with keychains that say pet home alone. We highly recommend these in case you are in an accident.
  • Rescue Pet Sticker for the window or door. The sticker allows you to alert rescue workers that there are pets inside help save lives. They include boxes for dogs, cats, birds, and others.

Just like every aspect of your life, it’s important to include your furry companion in your estate planning. Next week, we will dive into the different options for including your pets in your will and other options to ensure they are safe.

Local Clear Lake and League City Attorney Erin Callahan can help walk you through the different options if you have further questions.
